New Years Eve

Howdy every body!

Sorry its been so long since I've posted. Internet is not really all that reliable sometimes. Blake and I have been in Koh Lanta Thailand since Leah left. Well minus a short trip to Penang Malaysia to get our visas.

     Koh Lanta, so far so good. We really like it here, super laid back. Nobody trying to sell you a suit or a tuk tuk or damn massage. Beautiful sunsets, really nice people, and no real crowds. I mean through xmas there were not that many people here.

       So the trip to Penang! Holy crap that ride sucks! Miserable packed into a mini bus with 15 complete strangers for 12+ hours. When we booked it we were under the impression it was the VIP bus, ad when we got to Hat Yai they pulled the switcheroo to a mini bus. Not that bad though since it was a ten passenger instead of the 15. Same thing for the way back expect they piled luggage damn near over our heads. Oh and the driver just dropped us off in Ban Saladan and left. About 15 minutes drive from our hotel. Not for the luxury minded traveler.

            Penang was actually really not that bad for a pretty large city. Very clean, nice buildings, skyscrapers and all. Definitely not what I was expecting. Don't, whatever you do, go out drinking in Malaysia. It is more expensive than the States. Also I wouldn't recommend Subway in a muslim country. Bacon and ham not so good lol.

    So we get back to Lanta finally and it turns out that our reservation we made through a local agent has been sold out from under us two hours before we told him we would get back. 9 p.m. two nights before New Years Eve on an island in Thailand without a room. Awesome. Well the guys at Casa Mi Bar rallied through for us and managed to get us a room that night and miraculously i found another. The next day we managed to get a pretty nice big bungalow with two beds no A/C for 1550 baht a night. More than twice what its worth but no other choice. So that is the catch up. Looks like we will be in thailand until the 20th and then on to the next adventure. Ho Chi Minh City otherwise known as Saigon. Wish us luck. Happy New Years!!!!!!!!
